Join author, photographer and architectural historian Dale A. Carlson as he recounts the history of Dearborn's famous Ford Rotunda. It was designed by Albert Kahn for the 1934 World's Fair in Chicago and moved to 3000 Schafer Road in Dearborn in 1935. Revisit metro Detroit's decade long love affair with the Rotunda's annual "Christmas Fantasy" festivities that included memorable highlights like Santa's Workshop, the Candy Cane North Pole and a 40-foot Christmas tree. The tradition was sadly and abruptly ended by a catastrophic fire in 1962. Carlson's presentation digs deep into The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press coverage and the Henry Ford Museum's massive collection of "Christmas Fantasy" memorabilia. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A. For adults 18 and older.
